Every bid on GeM, CPPP and state e-procurement portals must be digitally signed with a valid Class 3 Digital Signature Certificate. This guide explains which type you need, what documents to prepare, and how to get one issued in 15 minutes so you never miss a tender deadline.
Why a Class 3 DSC Is Mandatory for Bidding
CCA India discontinued Class 2 DSCs, so every e-procurement portal — GeM, CPPP (eprocure.gov.in), IREPS, MSTC, and state portals like Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu — now accepts only Class 3 DSCs. Bidders use it to log in, encrypt their price bids, and digitally sign every submission.

Documents Required
For Class 3 Individual DSC:
- PAN card
- Aadhaar card (front and back)
- Passport-size photograph
For Class 3 Organisation DSC:
- Company/LLP PAN
- Certificate of Incorporation or partnership deed
- GST certificate
- Authorised signatory's PAN and Aadhaar
- Board resolution or authorisation letter
- Signatory's passport-size photograph

Using Your DSC on GeM & CPPP
After issuance, install the token drivers, plug the USB token into your bidding machine, and open the portal in a supported browser. Log in, go to your profile, and register the DSC certificate against your account. From then on, every bid you submit is signed and encrypted with that certificate — the portal rejects any bid signed by an unregistered or expired DSC.
Renewing Before Expiry
A DSC that expires mid-tender blocks bid submission, corrigendum acknowledgements, and even login. Renew 15-30 days early so you have time to re-register the new certificate on every portal you bid on.
