A Digital Signature Certificate cannot be extended once issued. When your DSC expires, "renewal" means obtaining a fresh Class 3 certificate — with a new validity period — before or right after the old one lapses. The good news: if your existing USB token is FIPS-compliant and in working condition, the new certificate loads onto the same token, so you don't pay for a new one.
Every renewal is issued as a Class 3 certificate (Class 2 was discontinued by CCA India on 1 January 2021). It stays legally valid on MCA21, Income Tax, GST, EPFO, DGFT, ICEGATE and e-tender portals across India. DSCKart renews Individual, Organisation and DGFT certificates 100% online — no office visit, documents shared over WhatsApp, and a 2-minute Video KYC.
