DGFT Certificate in Bangalore: A Guide for Karnataka Exporters (2026)
Published August 8, 2026 · By DSCKart
Bengaluru and the wider Karnataka belt export everything from engineering goods and garments to software and IT-enabled services. Whether you ship physical goods through Chennai or Mangaluru port or invoice services from an office in Whitefield, any filing you make on the DGFT portal must be digitally signed with a DGFT-classified Class 3 Digital Signature Certificate.
What Is a DGFT Certificate?
A DGFT certificate is a Class 3 Organisation DSC issued with the DGFT classification, which carries your IEC (Import Export Code) inside the certificate. The DGFT portal checks the signatory and the IEC before accepting a submission.
This is why a standard Class 3 Organisation DSC is not accepted on dgft.gov.in. It will sign MCA, GST and tender documents perfectly well, but without the DGFT classification the portal cannot map it to your IEC, and registration fails.
Who Needs It in Bangalore
- IEC holders making any filing or amendment on the DGFT portal.
- Exporters applying for advance authorisation or EPCG licences.
- IT and services exporters registered with an IEC for cross-border invoicing.
- Star export house applicants submitting status-holder applications.
- Exporters claiming incentives such as RoDTEP or RoSCTL.

- IEC certificate
- Company / LLP PAN card

- Install the token drivers and plug the USB token into the machine you file from.
- Log in to dgft.gov.in with the IEC holder / authorised signatory account.
- Open the digital signature registration section in your profile and select the certificate from the token.
- Link it to your IEC and confirm with the token PIN.
- Sign a test submission to confirm the certificate is accepted before a deadline-bound filing.
Getting One in Bengaluru — Without an Office Visit
The entire process is online. Share your documents on WhatsApp, complete a two-minute Video KYC from your desk, and the certificate is issued — typically within 15 minutes of verification. Tokens are dispatched the same day across Bengaluru, from Peenya and Rajajinagar to Electronic City, HSR Layout and Whitefield. If you also need general-purpose certificates for your team, see our Bangalore DSC page.
Renewing Before Expiry
A DGFT DSC cannot be extended — renewal means issuing a fresh certificate. An expired certificate blocks every DGFT filing, including time-sensitive incentive claims, so start 7-15 days early and re-register the new certificate against your IEC. Full details on our DSC renewal page.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a DGFT certificate?
It is a Class 3 Organisation Digital Signature Certificate issued with the DGFT classification, which embeds the exporter's IEC (Import Export Code) in the certificate so the DGFT portal can validate both the signatory and the entity.
Can Bangalore exporters use a normal Class 3 Organisation DSC on the DGFT portal?
No. The DGFT portal only accepts DSCs issued with the DGFT classification. A standard Class 3 Organisation DSC without it will be rejected during registration.
Who in Karnataka needs a DGFT DSC?
Any IEC holder filing on dgft.gov.in — merchandise exporters, IT and services exporters, applicants for advance authorisation or EPCG, and star export house applicants.
Do I need to visit an office in Bengaluru?
No. Documents are shared over WhatsApp, identity is verified through Video KYC, and the USB token is dispatched the same day across Bengaluru.
How do I renew an expiring DGFT DSC?
Renewal issues a fresh certificate — a DSC cannot be extended. Start 7-15 days before expiry and re-register the new certificate against your IEC on the DGFT portal. See our DSC renewal page for the process.
