DSC Renewal in Bangalore: Renew Your Digital Signature in 15 Minutes (2026)

Published August 8, 2026 · By DSCKart

Bengaluru's CAs, company secretaries, exporters and finance teams tend to discover an expired Digital Signature Certificate at the worst possible moment — the evening before an MCA annual filing, a GST return or a DGFT incentive claim. It helps to know one thing up front: a DSC cannot be extended. Renewal means a fresh Class 3 certificate is issued for a new validity period.

When to Renew

Begin 7-15 days before the expiry date printed on your certificate. That buffer covers document checks, Video KYC, issuance, and — the step most people forget — re-registering the new certificate on every portal you file from: MCA21, the GST portal, the income tax e-Filing portal, dgft.gov.in and any tender portal you bid on.

Once a certificate lapses, signing simply stops working. Forms cannot be submitted, tender bids cannot be uploaded, and DGFT filings are blocked until a new certificate is issued and registered. An expired DSC is still renewable — you just apply for a fresh one — but the downtime is entirely avoidable.

Reuse Your Existing Token and Save

If your existing FIPS-compliant USB token is in working order and has a free certificate slot, the renewed certificate can be loaded onto it — no new hardware needed, and the token cost drops out of the renewal entirely. Buy a replacement only if the token is damaged, lost, locked out by wrong PIN attempts, or already full. See the HYP2003 token page if you do need one.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can an existing DSC be extended?

No. A Digital Signature Certificate cannot be extended. Renewal means a fresh Class 3 certificate is issued for a new validity period, with fresh KYC.

When should I renew?

Start 7-15 days before the expiry date. That leaves time for KYC, issuance and re-registering the new certificate on each portal you file from.

Can I reuse my existing USB token?

Yes, if your FIPS-compliant token is working and has free certificate slots, the renewed certificate can be loaded onto it — which saves the cost of a new token.

What happens if my DSC has already expired?

Filings that need a signature will fail on MCA, GST, income tax, DGFT and tender portals until a new certificate is issued and registered. An expired DSC can still be renewed — you simply apply for a fresh certificate.

Which certificate types can be renewed?

Class 3 Individual, Class 3 Organisation and DGFT certificates can all be renewed. Document Signer certificates are also reissued the same way.

Do I need to visit an office in Bengaluru?

No. Documents are shared over WhatsApp and identity is confirmed by Video KYC. If a new token is needed, it is dispatched the same day across Bengaluru.
